This 63 square kilometer design competition site, completed for the Qingdao New District Administration Committee, was awarded to EADG for our “Salt Crystal” theme which was derived from the form of sea salt. EADG also followed up this competition by providing design development drawings and construction documents. Phase I for the New District Eco Water System Landscape includes Hulu Alley and Yangmao Ditch riverside landscape areas. Within an area of approximately 2,970,000 square meters, there aer some 1,207,000 square meters for water bodies, and 1,400,000 square meters for green planting, with over 150 species of trees and shrubs. To embrace the idea of ‘ecological, environmentally-friendly, harmonious and natural,’ EADG focused on the principle of preservation and regeneration of the eco-wetland. The project was begun on August 30, 2008 and opened to the public on August 20, 2009. it has been awarded first prize in Landscape Design by Shandong province and is one of the most successful public riverfront landscape designs by EADG.
